The developers of Miami Worldcenter have just announced CoastalTishman as the general contractor on the eve of the project’s official groundbreaking.

Construction work has already begun on Worldcenter, though the project’s ceremonial groundbreaking is set to take place next month. The general contractor’s naming comes a little more than a month after Worldcenter’s original design as an enclosed mall was scrapped in favor of a “High Street Retail” layout reminiscent of Miami Beach’s Lincoln Road.

Developers Nitin Motwani, Art Falcone and Dan Kodsi revealed the very first renderings of Worldcenter’s revamped design last week. Its open-air concept includes a one-to-two story row of retail shops and eateries, along with a new plaza space that can be used as event space.

CoastalTishman will now take up the task of delivering Worldcenter’s roughly 300,000 square feet of retail space, as well as building its attached 513-unit condo tower, Paramount Miami Worldcenter. All of the project’s elements are expected to open at similar times in 2018.

The contracting firm is a joint-venture between Miami’s Coastal Construction and New York-based Tishman Construction. Their parternship was formed four years ago, joining Tishman — one of the country’s largest builders — together with a locally prominent firm.
